Memory Verse: Numbers 14:6-9 “Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who explored the land, tore their clothes and said to the entire Israelites assembly, “ the land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, He will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of that land because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid with them.”
Trust – have confidence or faith in; believe; be confident about something
How can we trust? How can you say “Trust me if you yourself have a doubt?” Sometimes we ought to say to someone to let them trust in you but a lot of times we fail to do or fulfill it. It really hurts if you put your confidence to someone but when the rough time comes will just left you with nothing. To whom you can trust now? As Christians we should look to our self and check first if we our own self can be trusted also. How can we say we can be trusted? Or to whom we really have to trust?
As we look in Caleb’s and Joshua’s life, when they went up to the land where the Lord promised to them they really saw how wonderful the land was and even described it exceedingly good! But the other men who went up with them was afraid and even told the Israelites that they cannot posses the land because the people living there was so powerful and even describe themselves as a grasshoppers. But do we look like grasshoppers in the Lord’s eyes?
Caleb and Joshua say’s in verse 8 if the Lord is pleased with us, He will lead us into that land.
If the Lord is pleased with us? Then how can we please Him? If we will go back from the story when the Israelites were still in Egypt and until they journeyed out to sum it all up the Lord is giving us the whole picture, “To trust and have faith in Him”. He is not asking for anything else only to depend and believe in Him wholeheartedly.
When the Lord said to Caleb in verse 24 because he has a different spirit and follows him wholeheartedly, He will bring him into the land he went to and his descendants will inherit it. Caleb has a spirit of trusting and believing the Lord not only partially but wholeheartedly. The Lord wants us to do the same; we have to develop our trust and to put our confidence in Him.
As Christians we really have to be bold in serving to glorify our God, if we put our faith and confidence in Him nothing can devour us.
My Prayer:
Lord forgive me from doubting a lot of times; forgive me if I grumble against you and just looking in the negative things that is happening around us. Lord a lot of times I stumble and fall but you are always there to pick me up. Yes Lord create in me a new heart and renew a right spirit within me that is to trust and be confident in you always, help me to cast out all the doubts that the enemy has placed in me. You are our God so mighty God in you and with you there is nothing to be afraid of.
